The new factory at ABP hosts a fully functioning Atelier; an open-plan space filled with natural light and fitted with air conditioning.
Alongside the main sewing room, ABP boasts a fabric and raw material warehouse, a large cutting room containing a cutting machine and tables for preparation and hand cutting, technical workspaces, meeting rooms and a warehouse for finished goods.
The sewing room houses new, specialised machinery for the production of lingerie, swimwear, beachwear and ready-to-wear.
Some of the specialist machines include:
- The 3-step zigzag machine – A staple at the Atelier, this machine creates a zigzag stitch constructed of three small stitches along each edge. This provides a neat finish and added reinforcement, whilst retaining its stretch.
- The Bartack machine – A specialist device designed to create durable reinforcement stitches. First it creates a straight tack stitch followed by a narrow zigzag stitch over the top.
The production process sees each machinist take on a certain operation. The highly skilled team have the opportunity to specialise on selected machines.
